A NATURE LOVER WHO LOVED THE PARKS

Mason McLeod found his passion working as a park ranger at Everglades National Park in the winter and Katmai National Park in the summer.  He started working for the National Park Service during the summer of 2007 and continued up until his plane went missing in August 2010.  Read more about his disappearance and the search for his downed plane here
Learn about his experience in Alaska through his own words and pictures in his

"PEACEFUL WOULD HARDLY BE THE WAY TO DESCRIBE MY MOOD AS I STOOD ON THAT MOUNTAIN. I FELT RESTLESS AND ALIVE."

"You have my everlasting gratitude.  The scholarship that you funded has benefited me in so many ways that I can only call it a miracle.  This Duke TIP course, I believe, will change my life.  I have always aspired to be a marine biologist, living in Jacksonville, I have fallen in love with the ocean.  Mason McLeod, though I've never known him, is still a very inspiring person to me."
